How long does it take to get the visitor permit?
The online application takes about five minutes. After you pay the flat $99.99, an independent Puerto Rico-licensed physician reviews your application. Most tourist permits are reviewed within the hour. The approved 30-day permit is then emailed to you directly. Additional documents and official processing can extend the timeline.

What do you need to apply as a visitor?
MedCardPR’s visitor service currently serves U.S. citizens. Prepare valid identification, travel dates and relevant medical information. A driver’s license is not proof of citizenship. The independent physician determines whether additional documentation is needed.
Everything is submitted through the secure online form, and your Social Security number is encrypted before storage. If you don't have records on hand, the independent physician can still evaluate your qualifying condition during review.
